To have something similar to your “Favorite Boards”, you can pin the boards to the left sidebar Categories and Tags. You can get their via the pencil icon next to CATEGORIES.

Where there are Replies, your user icon in the upper right shows in indicator. Clicking on your Icon shows all your Alerts, including Replies. You can also filter that list to view just specific types of icons.
