Physical Therapist told me on Tuesday that “It’s great that you can do 4 mph on a treadmill, but that’s not doing much to improve your balance. It would be more productive, if you walked in circles around the treadmill while holding on to the railings with one hand.” That’s greatly improved my balance. I’ve even ordered one of those old people’s canes with the 4 legs that looks like a base plate for one of those aluminum street light poles, which is the next step in balance training.
The cheapest “Quad Cane” I saw on Amazon was $24, TEMU was selling it for $8 with $2.99 shipping. I ordered it about 10PM Thursday night and somehow the quad cane showed up at my door just before 2 PM today (Friday).
TEMU is running rings around Amazon, and with far less “skim”
{{Edit: I just visited the TEMU website to give them a 5* star review and it says that the item is still being prepared for shipment. I believe that the Chinese have now harnessed the Quantum Entanglement. }}
I ordered some Hoka shoes on 1/20, via Amazon Prime, 13’s, they still haven’t shipped, even tho the original arrival was supposed to be 2/2! Called CS, they promised to escalate, no sign of that either… Left a 1 star review, so far unpublished, wrote another note via Delivery instructions, also no response… They flipped the arrival to 1/16, but if they aren’t here on 1/12, I’ll cancel, share down a replacement after we return from a long weekend… Never any issues until this item, 5 other items ordered this week, all out for delivery today, just that one pair of shoes..Which nw shows as out of stock if I tried to reorder, replace… Their supplier is blowin’ it…
( Checked TEMU, sold out of Hoka 13’s… Smaller size was 2+ days shipping, tho… )
You’re on the West Coast. Temu gets everything from China, which ships to … the West Coast. And Temu is following the Amazon playbook (also Sam Walton) of putting local warehouses closer to customers to speed up the logistics chain. Temu now has warehouses in LA, Dallas, and Newark.
When I first started ordering from them everything came directly from China - at least of the stuff I ordered, which I would guesstimate at 50 pieces over a couple years. Most recently my stuff takes a week instead of three, but it’s nowhere close to Amazon, which occasionally has stuff at my door in 4 or 5 hours.
Temu also stuffed its warehouse channels before the orange tariffs kicked in so they could keep some prices low, but that only works for so long. Still, the prices are much better than those domestically, but the quality is also (as a rule) less. Often that doesn’t matter. Sometimes it does.
The one thing that drives me nuts is their insistence that I “play games” before getting to the catalog. I don’t want to “spin the wheel” or “guess the number”, I just want the search box to see if they have something.
The delivery notification I got from TEMU this morning says it was “delivered by Amazon” – likely from the big Amazon fulfillment center across the River in Troutdale OR about 15 miles from my home.
Which makes it even more of a scam – order it from Amazon and it costs $24, order it from TEMU and it costs $8, plus it is shipped with Amazon Prime speed.
