Yamanaka factors n age reversal

A few years ago, science discovered that adult cells could be artificially induced, via chemicals, to “regress” to one of the previous stem cells types.

The chemicals eventually were termed “Yamanaka Factors”.
Recent efforts have focused on “controlled” regression, that “reverses aging”.
If I understand correctly, skin cells stay skin cells, muscle cells stay muscle cells … They just become “younger” with “younger biomarkers” for their cell type.

That’s my 5th grader explanation.

Stem cell treatments are already available. Some places offer arthritis treatments.

ChatGPT says:
:dna: What Are the Yamanaka Factors?

Named after Japanese scientist Shinya Yamanaka, who discovered them in 2006 (winning the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine), the four Yamanaka factors are:

  1. OCT4 (Octamer-binding transcription factor 4)

  2. SOX2 (SRY-box 2)

  3. KLF4 (Kruppel-like factor 4)

  4. c-MYC (Myelocytomatosis oncogene)

Together, they are often abbreviated as OSKM.
