Just for frame of reference, the total America deaths in World War II: 405,399.
Total American deaths in World War I: 117,000
Total American deaths in the Civil War: 620,000
And in each of those the government revved up its full might and power. People were drafted, put in uniforms of someone else’s design, and put on the battlefield to face live ammunition, grenades, and artillery. There were food riots, rationing, and blackouts. Movement was restricted, taxes were raised.
But now, with far more deaths in an equivalent or even shorter time, it’s too much trouble to wear a mask when you go out to the supermarket.
There are more people fighting COVID than any war ever fought.
Just for frame of reference…

debunking statistical BS!

Or simply get a vaccination. The vast majority of deaths over the past year were among the unvaccinated.

Total American deaths in the Civil War: 620,000>>

For more than a century, the most-accepted estimate was about 620,000 dead…This estimate was not an unreasoned guess, but a number that was established after years of research in the late 19th century…But in 2011, demographic historian Dr. J. David Hacker published “A Census-Based Count of Civil War Dead,” in the scholarly quarterly, Civil War History, reporting that his in-depth study of recently digitized census data concluded that a more accurate estimate of Civil War deaths is about 750,000…
And, of course, the population was only a twelfth of what it is today.
750,000 x 12 = 9,000,000

That’s died with Covid, not from Covid as even the CDC recently noted. More recent medical reports show that the ‘from Covid’ number could be less than 10% of that figure [which is still a lot!]
E.g. one of my closest co-worker’s mom was in Hospice, she had less than 2 weeks to live. She got Covid so the State put that on her certificate as was mandated at that time, but that’s not what killed her.
I have several coworkers who are triple vaxxed and gotten Covid 2x. You have to be to even come into my workplace. So it’s not as simple as ‘they didn’t get vaxxed.’
And, of course, the population was only a twelfth of what it is today.
750,000 x 12 = 9,000,000

Glad to help out.
One could also say that there have been more covid deaths in the EU than in the US – but one has to adjust for population.

Got a link for these ‘recent medical reports’? From what I’ve seen, studies of excess deaths during the Covid years indicate that the reported Covid deaths may be under reported. It’s certain there are plenty of people who’ve died of Covid who never had the disease confirmed, offsetting some or all of the deaths like the one you have personal knowledge of who was already in hospice care that may have been improperly attributed to Covid.

I’ll give you one:
**Claims that COVID death figures are inflated by counting those who died ‘with, not from’ the virus are premised on false assertions**
**… The false notion that the numbers of people dying from COVID-19 have been skewed because they include people who died “with” rather than “from” COVID-19 dates to August 2020. That’s when then-President Donald Trump retweeted several posts that claimed the CDC was adjusting coronavirus deaths downward.**
**The claims were based on a federal report that indicated that of all Americans whose deaths were attributed to COVID-19 on their death certificates, only 6% did not also list other conditions as being factors.**

Just to be clear:
“ We rate this claim Pants on Fire!
This article was originally published by PolitiFact, which is part of the Poynter Institute.
Oh, one more note, if I may: ”Contrary to the assertion of the post, researchers have found evidence that overall deaths from COVID-19 have been undercounted, not overcounted, since the start of the pandemic.”
I think it should also be mentioned more often how many people have gotten sick from COVID. There’s a wide spectrum between dead or alive but a lot of people only focus on one extreme. There’s a lot of people with long term damage from COVID like their lungs. Makes me think of people being asked how they are and responding with “I’m still alive”. Someone might not have literally died from it but it doesn’t mean it wasn’t a terrible experience and didn’t have some long term effect on health or financial stability.
Big numbers but for perspective, relative to the population:
CV .28%
WW2 .29%
WW1 .11%
CW 1.9%
Point for Goofy on the “mask wearing takes away our freedom” idiocy.
There’s a wide spectrum between dead or alive but a lot of people only focus on one extreme.
It’s that it’s hard to recover from that one particular extreme.

no, sorry.

you die from COVID you get a distinct medical code. Congratulations.
