Sorry, my bad.

Different timescales

For the chart reading challenged like me in my brain-fart post (that I FA’d and maddeningly hasn’t been removed yet):

COVID related deaths, all age, unvaccinated: 9.74 per 100,000 per week.

The U.S. traffic fatality rate 12.4 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants per year.

AdrianC posts,

COVID related deaths, all age, unvaccinated: 9.74 per 100,000 per week.

The U.S. traffic fatality rate 12.4 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants per year.

Just to restate the numbers on the same time scale.

Annual Traffic Deaths 12.4 per 100,000 inhabitants

Annual Unvaccinated deaths about 500 per 100,000 inhabitants

Vaccinated, no booster deaths about 40 per 100,000 inhabitants

Vaccinated, plus booster deaths about 6 per 100,000 inhabitants.

So if you’re vaccinated and boosted, you’re about half as likely to die from COVID than your are to die in a car crash. If you’re unvaccinated, your 40 times more likely to die from COVID, than be killed in a car crash.

Jesus, we mandate seat belts for a far smaller reduction in deaths.

We can not mandate intelligence which must be driving the insurance executives crazy.

Oddly enough, Mother Nature does have some ability to mandate intelligence: stupid decisions are more likely to be rewarded by removal from the gene pool. As we are seeing in the pandemic.

But not fast enough…
