So…
Do you feel confident investing in this atmosphere?
I voted yes because I am investing for the long term.
Eventually the depression subsided as did the 1970’s stagflation and all the past recessions.
Moot question.
Do you have a plan to invest in this atmosphere?
The Captain
No. This is the kind of volatility I saw before the dot-com bubble burst, and before the 2008 bubble burst. I am at the stage of preserving capital, not trying to grow more. (I have some investments in Berkshire and other stalwarts, but I’m not putting anything else into the market. I see the current volatility as the big traders on Wall Street who jump at any glimmer of hope, and who run in fear at the appearance of any cloud. Not my style.)
I voted yes, because almost everything I own pays a divi, and the divis throw off about twice as much cash as I need to live on.
I also remember when I went all cash in late 2016, expecting this sort of havoc. Left a fortune on the table.

The prez is causing mayhem but this market was going to revert to discounted values. I will wait.
That’s an OK plan!
The Captain
Yes.
Money I’m spending in the next 10 years is in cash and fixed income (less than 5% of assets)
Everything else (95% +) is still in the market.
