So Israel lied when it said the war was started to destroy the nuclear weapons being developed by Iran (I am not sure if Iran was building a nuclear any nuclear weapons). Oil and gas are not nuclear weapons.
For Iran (and others historically), developing nuclear weapons is seen as a national security priority, a strategic deterrent, and a symbol of technological and political power. When a facility is destroyed or a program is set back, the underlying ambition doesn’t disappear — it adapts. Each time a site is attacked or sabotaged, the next iteration of that facility or program often benefits from:
Improved design
Advanced technology
Cost is not the limiting factor – Iran, like other states that have pursued nuclear weapons, is willing to absorb massive economic and human costs over decades if it believes the strategic payoff is worth it.
Arms race of technology and denial – This is a classic pattern: efforts at denial (e.g., bombing, cyber attacks, sanctions) result in more sophisticated, distributed, hardened, or covert programs.
I agree, I used to think they were brothers from another mother but now I think they are sisters from another mother and this is just one hell of a cat fight.
One of my favorite movies, because of the xc-skiing in it. I still haven’t learned to do a telemark turn yet, I’ve seen a few skiers do them, but it’s more of an open area turn, not real practical on the narrower trails I ski on. But I do want to learn the technique, it can be really useful if one finds themselves on a steep downhill with some room to maneuver.
OK, 60s movie fan. Do you remember this one? I read somewhere along the line, that the attack sequence, of Mosquitos running a gauntlet of fire, flying up a fjord, to drop their bombs, inspired a young kid, working on a space opera, to pattern his climatic battle sequence after it. (it’s a rocket fuel plant this time, not heavy water)
Steve…not a very good movie, but great flying sequences, with real Mosquitos.
That was a pretty good action-clip, never seen that before.
I watched Telemark for the 1st time in the '90’s. Would like to see it again, and it popped up on Youtube, so’ll have to watch it the next lazy, rainy day I get.
I don’t remember the first time I saw “Telemark”. I know I saw “633 Squadron” in the theater, when it was new. I have had both in my personal DVD collection for years now.
If you missed the hints, that sequence from “633” allegedly inspired the attack on the Death Star in the first “Star Wars” film.
Him and the Prez are pathetic. They want nobody to question anything they say, we are all supposed to bow down before them and accept without reservation anything they tell us. This is incredibly dangerous to the Country.
IMO, the Press is not nearly aggressive enough at challenging their claims. Easy for me to say, as it’s not my immediate livelihood at stake. But this crew needs to be challenged at every utterance they make.
They show a certain brand of weakness almost fear that I have never seen in the White house. That look on Hegseth’s face I haven’t seen in a long time.
