Comments on the various boards

Motley Fools,

How can I see the comments or posts I’ve written on the various boards?

Some, but not all, are shown in the Activity tab on my profile page. The rest I guess I’d have to bookmark or write down so that I check back to see if there was any response.

Am I missing something? Is there some what to see everything I’ve written here?

Thank you,

MJ

All your posts should be listed on the Activity tab under My Profile. They are listed in descending chronological order, from most recent to least. Just click on Show More Activity at the bottom of the page to see more.

Fuskie,

All your posts should be listed on the Activity tab under My Profile.

Should be, but they are not. The one to which you are replying here is; others are not.

They are kind of clunky and 90s to early aughts in appearance & operation.

When are they going away? Will they be replaced with something similar? The opportunity to have discussions with other investors was one of the things that attracted me to this organization.

“Should be, but they are not. The one to which you are replying here is; others are not.”

They were prob ably deleted, either singly or as part of a total thread deletion.

Go back to the original board and sort by your name. Check to see if they are still there or have been deleted for one reason or another. You can hardly expect them to be preserved in your personal history if they aren’t preserved in the board history.

tamhas,

I enjoyed your comment more when I read it the second time. I read it with an RP accent & a sigh before the last sentence. Like John Gielgud in the movie Arthur.

Fuskie,

I replied to a post you did on board called “Ask a Foolish Question” in a thread entitled “Are we in a recession?” on August 2. I wanted to check to see if you responded - I enjoy reading your remarks - but could not remember where it was. I confused it in memory with a board called “Ask the Fool.”

My post is not listed in my profile. Also, your post to which I responded is not listed in your profile, but your response to mine is and that’s how I found it.

This isn’t a big thing, it’s just that I’m new around here and some things are not obvious.

Hi MJ,

You’re right, that post is not showing up on your activity feed and while I have no idea why, I can say there is a good reason we’re replacing the boards and this is just one of them.

However, if you really want to see your most recent posts, a more consistent way to do it is to use the Show Most Recent Posts link at the bottom of the boxes on the right of your activity page. It says 10 but once you open it you can change the number in the URL from limit=10 to limit=99 and see your last 99 posts. here’s yours: https://discussion.fool.com/lastposts.asp?limit=99&uid=20613…

You should also be able to click the Favorites & Replies link at the top of this page, then select the Replies to Your Posts tab and see unread replies to your most recent posts.

One other thing though, as a premium member, you’ll probably have better luck posting on the premium community boards. More Ticker Guiides and Home Fools read those than these public boards.

One more way to find old posts is to use the Favorite Fools menu, include yourself, then chase down the possible postings… They’re in there somewhere/when…

Here is the link for that thread:

If your reply is missing from that thread, it was removed or there was an error submitting the post. If it was removed, it was because the Fool Moderators felt it violated the Terms of Service. I am not involved in that process so I cannot speak authoritatively on why it might have been removed.

Thank you Jen Roberts!

If MF is getting rid of these boards, will something replace them?

Although at times they remind of the comment section of a sports blog, I am learning from them and enjoy reading others’ ideas.

Thank you again.

Yes, MJ, something new is coming. It started last November with the first premium service, and TMF took a few months to learn from that experience. Then they moved some more services over and measured the success of that transition. The pace of services moved over to the new TMF Community platform is increasing.

I am not on the inside for the schedule, but I would guess the public boards will be one of the last to be migrated, simply because even after the non-financial boards are closed, the size of the public community dating back 20+ years is huge.

Fuskie

But certainly a lot smaller than it was a few months ago… Just sayin’
