Everyone,

You will not see any of your favorite boards on the new site until sometime on Saturday, Sep 23rd!

All these boards will “stay” here but will be Closed (read only) starting Friday evening.

Once the conversion is completed, all the content here will “appear” on the new site and you will be able to post to these “topics” on the new system.

There are a lot of new features on the new system and it appears to be a little more user friendly than this system.

You should be able to click on my profile below to have a look at the new system.

If you want to look at/update your own profile on the new system, just change my user name (gdett2) to your name in the address bar and press .

I note that it doesn’t recognize any of my posts since September 10. Despite making several posts today! That does nothing to bolster my confidence in the system.

Hi XMFRob,

Looking at your profile here, it looks like you made 5 posts on the “old board system.” They will not show on the “new board system!”

When these boards are moved, your “posts” move with them.

Mine from SA, RYR and the other boards that have been moved show in my posting history on the new system.

Have you posted anything on the new board system in SA, RYR or the common boards that have been moved?

No, not yet.

Thanks for pointing out my error in expectations regarding the posts.

I’ve used Discourse before. Didn’t particularly care for it, but that doesn’t matter now. I’ll learn to deal with it.

I haven’t used Discourse before but did use Slack for a while as a CMF and didn’t particularly like it. I guess it was the organization and screen layout. If I was gone for a while it was hard to find where I left off.

This system is much better. I use the “Community Latest” as my home/entry point. It clearly shows what I haven’t read and by clicking one of the buttons, I can view just unread messages.

Primary movement is to click a topic/message, read it and click the “page back” arrow on my browser.

When I do the “page back” the page has been updated to show I read the message.

If you are sitting on the main page and someone posts a message, it will update the screen.

I was reading a message and saw at the bottom a little “notice” that “TMFVicki is responding” or something to that affect. I waited and sure enough, her submitted message appeared.

On market days, I normally post my portfolio results and statistics on my Fool profile. On the old My Fool page, it stretched to 10 different entry windows daily with 4 additional that I updated once a month. There was no formatting, so everything was “slammed” together.

On the new system, (Link below), I make a single paste of formatted lines. It is much easier for me and it is a lot more readable.

And I put a “knitted” photo of our main view from our deck before the house and deck were built. No photos on this system.

People have been posting charts and graphs. TMPRP has been working on his magnificent reports, making them into a jpeg file, very easy to read with color and you can save a copy for future reference.

When Powell made his talk the other day, I took a screenshot of my portfolio performance though the day. I opened a reply, dragged the png file over, dropped it and wrote my reply.

I believe you will find it better than these boards after working with it for a while.

Beware the trap I fell into, there are these Freemium boards (Tags, Categories) but they are pretty much duplicated on the PC/Premium side, so far with no Paywall or effective way of knowing other than maybe the Jester hat up top isn’t Green/Blue but is Purple/Blue… So I figured out, kinda, Categories, Tagged some of my stocks, could not find T/atandt until I came to the Freemium side. Still looking for Rain over here, but…

In any case some wasted time, still a lot of confusion for me… I seem to have found the old boards, but few of the old Fools who used to post…
