Not surprising. As a kid, I remember New Jersey as that long, smokey road between New York and Philadelphia.

That long smokey road and all that industry is what visitors are supposed to see from turnpike.

If we had wanted you to leave the turnpike we would have provided directions.

Theres lots more to NJ than that but too many got there first.

Very high property taxes and huge pension liabilities make moving elsewhere attractive. I did.

I recall entering New Jersey from Delaware near the southern end of the New Jersey Turnpike. Although it was a chilly spring day, I began to smell a foul stench in the air. That was NOT a good first impression of the state. No wonder people say that New Jersey stinks.

Not a surprise to us Manhattanites. Who would want to live there to begin with! I cartoon I came across years ago says it all. Sketched in the simplest of lines, you see a very depressed looking man in a tunnel, shoulders hunched, walking sadly toward you and away from the light shining at the opening behind his back. The text:

“Discovering that the light at the end of the tunnel is New Jersey.”

The 2022 totals are 55% higher than the first four months of the last pre-pandemic year of 2019…Migration from New Jersey to Florida has also increased this year by 9%.

I wonder if Florida home insurance is more than the tax savings.

Will 2022 bring the collapse of the Florida homeowners insurance market?
