Russia’s Ukraine war effort running ‘out of steam’ as Putin’s ability to spy in Europe cut in half, MI6 chief says

Aspen CNN — The chief of Britain’s foreign intelligence service believes that Russia is losing steam in its invasion of Ukraine, and has lost its ability to spy in Europe “by half” following the expulsion of more than 400 Russian intelligence officers from cities across Europe and the arrest of several deep-cover spies posing as civilians.
Richard Moore, the head of MI6, told CNN’s Jim Sciutto at the Aspen Security Forum that since Russia invaded Ukraine in February, European countries have expelled “north of 400 Russian intelligence officers operating under diplomatic cover” across the bloc.
“And we reckon, in the UK, that has probably reduced their ability to do their business to spy for Russia in Europe by half,” …

Russia may have lost half it spies, but how does that affect their war on the ground in Ukraine?
The head of MI6 was discussing several different subjects in the linked article. One subject was the loss of many Russian spies in Europe. Another subject was Russia running ‘out of steam’ in Ukraine. Yet another subject was the Russia-China relationship (and how China was currently in the driver’s seat).
However, I didn’t see anything in the article where he tried to link or tie these various subjects together.
Propaganda has been a key factor in all modern warfare, but the Ukrainian War is probably a new peak. However, MI6 claims that Russia will soon hit an “operational pause” due to shortages is the sort of claim that ought to have a high degree of reliability. They gain credibility or they lose it big time, and credibility is essential in propaganda wars.

It seems that, at their burn rate, the Russkies should start running out of stuff. If they start showing up with ChiCom hardware, we will know.
General Milley sees a slow Russian offensive in eastern Ukraine:
“For 90 days, the Russian advances have amounted to maybe six to 10 miles… [which] is not very much,” Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Mark Milley said after attending a Ukraine Defense Contact Group along with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. Austin said he believes the war has entered a “critical phase,” while Milley sees “a grinding war of attrition” continuing. Meanwhile, Ukraine is gearing up for its own offensive to regain territory along its southern coast, according to WSJ.

Ah yes, in WWII the Alien went to great lengths to keep Operation Overlord* a secret.
Nowadays military secrets are posted on FaceBook and Twitter.
Operation Overlord was the codename for the Battle of Normandy, the Allied operation that launched the successful invasion of German-occupied Western Europe during World War II. The operation was launched on 6 June 1944 with the Normandy Landings (D-Day). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Overlord
