I still have a Watch 7 so blood oxygen has been measured throughout. I don’t particularly like the way they present the data in graph format though. I’d like the ability to click back in time like some of the other measurements (blood pressure for example).
My battery is nearly done for, so I’ll need a new one sooner rather than later. I’ll probably buy a new watch the end of this year or early next year.
I have an Apple Watch 6, which had the Blood Oxygen sensor and app. One day, I decided to replace the battery ($99, I think) rather than get a new watch (I like the dark blue of the watch, which isn’t a current color), and the Apple Store sent it in to Apple rather than replace it there. They warned me that the blood oxygen sensor would probably be deactivated, with the Masimo patent dispute, and it was.
I can confirm that not only has the Blood Oxygen measurement capability returned to my Apple Watch 9 (yes, I have two Apple Watches) but it has also returned to the 6.
Figures. Apple seems to be up to dirty tricks to show-horn the feature back into the watch, while still apparently violating the spirit of the Masimo tech. Just pay the damn licensing fee for frig’s sake and end this debacle. It’s going to cost Apple future watch sales if it hasn’t already done so.
