Not sure I like the Nike band yet, will try it a while, I liked a magnetic one I was using on my 5, but…
What I ordered: Apple Watch Series 10 GPS + Cellular, 46mm Slate Titanium Case with Blue Flame Nike Sport Band - M/L
Don’t plan on setting up the cellular, but it’s not an option, to not have it, on the titaniums… Oxygen App is aboard, but if chosen, says it’s not operational… So we’ll see how that plays out…
Blue? It doesn’t come across in the picture, nor on either of the other pictures on the Apple site. I see gray with speckles. (And orange, of course, which I take to be the flame.)
Correct, I see no Blue either, maybe a line of Nike’s other products, yes, dark Gray/Orange, SF Giant’s Orange, to me! SF Niner’s Red would have been OK, too… It was a choice, still getting used to the clasp, still exploring stuff…
(gave up, went back to magnetic band…)
Turns out during this week’s visits, both my Dermatologist, and my Physical Therapist have also bought new 10s… Good to see, maybe we’re helping the shares!
Just dropped off the old Watch 5 for the trade-in, they check it out, do the refund… Almost done…
Still learning as we chase mysteries, such as DW couldn’t get the watch to respond to her touch, then neither could I, come to find out ‘Water Lock’ was on, which prevents the screen from responding, as it would by water splashes, etc… Turned it Off, better… The how to switch Faces, then how to get to the Control Center… Little by little, we learn… A lot in there I hadn’t used, seen before… The oxygen level app is in there, just not operational! Hopefully one day it will be…
Kind of looks like it’s one of those “expansion” bands that can pinch your arm hairs, but it seems not. And it’s made of steel, not gold, nor even gold plating. But, wow, the price - $350!
I fell for the magnetic bands, originally Apple’s, no longer available, so later via Amazon as it wore out, exposing the magnets, went to a rubberized version, and used it for a while, on my 10, but the band would grab onto the car as I got in, so had to be sure it stayed on, then the other day, I realized my watch was gone! No idea where, but used the Find My app to locate in, it the recycle bin under the kitchen counter! Oops! So I went back to the Nike gray/orange I’d bought with the watch 10, it’s more secure, isn’t as sticky as the other one… Safer! I had visions of it stuck to the car, falling off on the road somewhere!!
My wife has the gold 10, SS magnetic, but it is a closed loop, been no problem, so far… But this looks nice, but at $350, not likely happening…
Here it is, many months (9) later and still no resolution for the Oxegen App, still irritating that it’s aboard my watch, but still disabled… I’d have thought they could have resolved the litigation by now! It’s part of why I upgraded… Anyway, I just submitted another feedback on the topic, I wonder if others have.. Seems to me there would maybe be a workaround, a simple patch to enable it..
Blood oxygen monitoring remains unavailable on Apple Watch models sold in the United States, and there are no signs that the feature will return with the Apple Watch Series 11.
I agree. Sometimes it seems like Apple is just as pig headed about admitting they’re wrong as Trump is.
Write them a check, Apple
The long-term solution that’s a win for everyone is for Apple to license the patents in question. It’s time the iPhone maker gives up hope on finding an alternative way to do the same job without infringing on Masimo’s patents.
Write Masimo a check, Apple. Court after court agrees you’re in the wrong. You’re only hurting yourself and your customers. Please stop.
Masimo must be being a PITA about it… Or the lawyers are locked into each stance… Settle & move on! I’d have thought, by now it was going to be settled… We bought new titanium 10’s, my wife gave up her 9, that did have Oxy monitoring, last yearn a bit of a whim, near our anniversary, thinking it would be worked out… So when I see a mention, it grabs my attention.. Keep the pot stirred, feedback notes, for all the good it does…
Time to rejoice … I think. Though it’s a kludge in that you can only view the results on a paired iPhone and not on the watch itself. I guess somehow Apple thought this was a better solution than just licensing the tech from Masimo.
Apple says that it will release iOS 18.6.1 and watchOS 11.6.1 later today to introduce a “redesigned Blood Oxygen feature” for Apple Watch users in the United States. The company says the update will be available for Apple Watch Series 10, Series 9, and Ultra 2 users in the U.S. who don’t have the original Blood Oxygen feature.
The update specifically applies to those Apple Watch models purchased in the United States with part numbers ending in LW/A. You can find the part number by going to the Settings app on your Apple Watch, tapping General, then tapping About. It’s also in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone under General and About.
How will the redesigned Blood Oxygen feature work on Apple Watch Series 10, Series 9, and Ultra 2?
You can start a session in the Blood Oxygen app on Apple Watch, and the sensors on your Apple Watch will then collect the necessary data. Your iPhone then uses that data to calculate your blood oxygen measurements. The results are viewable in the Respiratory section of the Health app on your iPhone. You won’t be able to view the results on the Apple Watch itself.
The redesigned version of the feature will also support background blood oxygen measurements. This means your Apple Watch can collect data in the background and pass it off to the iPhone for calculation.
Finally, Apple says there is “no impact to Apple Watch units previously purchased that include the original Blood Oxygen feature, nor to Apple Watch units purchased outside of the U.S.”
Wow! I’m now downloading, installing it on my 10! See how it works out… Maybe they listened? 11.6.1 was waiting for me… Thanks for the catch, I am still working on my coffee, slept in a tad late… Retired guys can do that! weco
Update: After the install, looking in the respiratory area, it has no data yet, so it’s a 'backdoor to the info. The blood oxy App is still not active… So we’ll see…
