Omicron deadlier than Delta for elderly

Get your second booster shot and continue Covid precautions. If you do get Covid, get Paxlovid right away.

Covid cases are not climbing in the latest peak, but hospitalizations and ICU admissions (lagging indicators) are climbing.

The current vaccine were not designed with omicron in mind because there wasn’t any omicron then.

At the national level, wastewater viral loads are still high, about 7 times higher than that of the March lows and almost as high as the levels at the pre-omicron peaks. The graphs are at https://biobot.io/data/ .

Given that hospitalizations, ICU admissions, and deaths are lagging indicators, I expect these figures to increase further.

The only reason I haven’t received my second booster is that I’m not eligible.

I’m due for a haircut soon. I will likely be cutting my own hair, just as I did in January (at the height of the first omicron surge) and just as I did before I was vaccinated.

Yes, I plan to get that in October along with my flu shot. But I couldn’t wait any longer for my second booster because Covid cases per 100,000 in my county are among the highest in the U.S.
Also, I’m over 65 and asthmatic due to industrial poisoning of my lungs.

Yep. Everyone is different. We all troll through the internet looking for the best information. Then weight the information in conjunction with our individual medical situation & how our individual lifestyle exposes us to risk. Then we make a choice; hoping it is the right choice.
