OT: What is the female equivalent of BMOC?

Probably not Big Woman or Betty Crocker. Martha Stewart? Oprah? Maggie Thatcher?

When you apply to private universities especially Ivy League schools it takes more than good grades. They prefer those with people skills usually indicated by your other activities.

The ideal is the BMOC (Big man on campus.) A well liked individual with many friends who can easily be elected to anything he chooses.

What is the female equivalent?

BWOC? (Not to be confused with BIPOC.)

OK, if you say so. But I suspect many would be insulted if called “big woman.”

Easy. A female BMOC in 1945 was my mom (first female major coed university student body prez in the USA). They called her PatO!.

Every few years from then on the labeling changes.

BMOC today is (according to godson #58, entering sophmore year) a deadly insult.

Why an equivalent? BPOC ‘P’ meaning person.

Re: BMOC as an insult.

Yes, those who think they are can be accused of arrogance.

And then there’s the envy component. Gripes expected.

But i think we know them when we see them. And so do universities et al.

I’ve seen the gender neautral term “movers and shakers” used. But even that is probably dated now.
