Trading Pot Stocks & ETFs

There are eleven ETFs that invest in pot stocks. (The list can be found at www.etfdb.com) BarChart tracks 35 pot stocks, whose list is here. The Ultimate List of Cannabis Stocks - Barchart.com The list includes some OTC stocks that you probably wouldn’t want to trade due to commission. Some are true “penny stocks”. Some, like SMG, are peripheral to the pot industry.

Ethics, legalities, moralities, ESG, etc., aside, the group is small enough to hand-chart and typically low-priced enough that small trading experiments could be run. PSIL seems to be what Quill might call an “At-the Gater”, complete with a ‘Smiley Face’ no less. SNDL’s fundamentals and growth prospects are solid, though its chart doesn’t yet signal a ‘Buy’.

In general, I’d say this. The industry is crashing for reasons that would have to be discovered, so that one isn’t just reacting to dropping prices and end up catching a falling knife instead of a good entry point. Do your Due Diligence.

[later] My scanner really, really likes GNLN. But I think its chart is iffy. Also, my fundie website is critical of it. The past year for Greenlane Renewables (TSE:GRN) investors has not been profitable But a 3-share bet wouldn’t break my bank if it failed.

Isnt it Tilray that just declared not a going concern. US has to legalize marijuana to have a chance. Competition with illegal sources makes profits difficult.
