In the Ukraine war, the US no longer holds the cards. Trump surrendered them when he betrayed Kyiv and the rest of Europe. But together, Ukraine and the rest of Europe have leverage. And they are beginning to see it.

When Russia failed to seize Kyiv in the first few weeks, it was probable that they would never win. Lots of reasons (if you want to watch the past four years of Perun on YouTube, he goes into excruciating detail…he’s a guy that gets invited to defense conferences and such). But, basically, the longer this goes on, the less likely the Russians will prevail. As long as they have support, the Ukrainians will outlast the Russians.
The Russian economy is a mess, and one has to think that the Russian people are getting tired of getting their loved ones back in body bags. For the Ukrainians, this is existential. Not so for the Russians.
