Spent the day chasing Music! Not seeing music I’d imported ages ago, and some purchased via iTunes, but now that’s gone and we only have the Music App, well it’s being pushed at $10.99 a month, while what I have is things I’ve digitized or family music, other recordings, which are on my Mac, but not happening with either the Music App or even iCloud! I don’t even see Music on the iCloud site…
Very confusing… (Earlier in the day had to call AppleCare to Authenticate the new Mac Mini, it said I was up to my 5 max limit of devices, but I could not find the toggle to remove all others, fixed that.)
Same problem for my wife and her music collections…
Yes, I’ve been contending with that Sync mess, it’s going on and on, syncing my Photos library of some 72K images, but seemingly ignoring the music files… Leaving the opportunity to change anything under Music greyed out, Unplugging, reconnecting doesn’t help, it just starts over again…
Gone are the days of user control it seems, all my wife wanted was ti use her classical music while she’s at the gym, using her earbuds, but her playlists, collections are also missing, and I’m not having any better luck with her new iPhone 15, either…
So for the two of us, $50/yr to connect to our previously ripped CDs, or family created music files… I guess we’ve not looked at this for a while, but I’m sure my DW had been using her Classical music collection just a couple years back, pre-pandemic when we were in the old gym…
Well, thanks for heading me into the current situation, will see where we end up, need to talk with other family members, I know my NIL ripped a huge collection of CDs, but I haven’t had a chance to see how he’s dealing with this…
At least without a monthly subscription. Apple Music seems to give you all the music on Earth, anytime you want, on any device, with all the control you want, for one low-low price, only pennies a day, act now. In these days of enshittification (can I say that?), I am grateful that Apple has a quirky Finder interface so I can still sync my music for free (at least free after the $$$ spent buying our stable of Apple devices).
Despite my moral objection to monthly subscriptions, I did break down and get a family subscription to iCloud drive for photos and cloud backup. It’s very nice.
I do have an iCloud bump up so my doorbell camera ca use the space for recording, but now that I write that, I’m also having something going on there, too, it’s telling me some things aren’t being analyzed, yet with the Home & Live view open, it does record, just not when napping, I guess… Maybe a call to Logitech to sort that out…
I don’t understand what happened, but I do see my songs in Music/Songs and in Music/Downloaded as well as Artists, on my iPhone, so maybe all I need do is create Playlists… Maybe along the way it has sync’d things…
I’m resisting subscriptions, as much as I/we can… My musical interests are more historical, from talks with my oldest brother, old Burl Ives, or guitar solos, but some Cold Play, Country/Wester, Waylon & Willie, but I don’t need the full game a subscription would offer, more into live news, podcasts when out walking, or the gym…
Seem to be getting a bit overloaded with tech lately, new RAV4 Hybrid, new Macs, iPhones, new LG washer/Dryer… adding up to a lot of stuff to deal with…
