Recently Yahoo mail requires that I get a verification through my telephone. I am sure yahoo knows best but I don’t want another nanny. I suppose their system is so insecure that it’s best.

If it is “one and done” deal, then do it. If they want to do it much more, then consider alternatives if it is a PITA.

No.
Yahoo has been asking me for a phone number for a long time, and I just click the “remind me later” link and it doesn’t prompt me again for a few months (or maybe it’s until I login from a different machine)
