If I did not detest Ford, I would test drive one of these.

I feel the same way about Tesla.
It’s a nice review, but it would have been better made by someone who actually drives and uses a pickup truck. He says several times “Well, I drive a low slung sporty car but…”
How do I know if it can haul enough stuff? How do I know if the range is sufficient with a full load of dirt? The attributes of a pickup truck are vastly different than of a sporty car.
This truck may be fantastic, but I don’t think this reviewer is qualified to comment on any aspects except “it goes fast” and “it’s pretty cool.”

A large number of pickup trucks are never used to haul dirt or tow a trailer. People just use them as an alternative to a family sedan. “It’s pretty cool” is a big part of the pickup truck market.

“Family trucks are 40 to 50 percent of our mix,” says David Elshoff, Ram brand spokesman. In the industry, a family truck is one with four full-sized doors in a midlevel or higher trim.

Ford and VW are supposed to be the two Western incumbents that will survive in the EV age but the road has its obstacles, the principal being supply of parts and batteries and the raw materials to make them.
The Ford Mach-E was one of the best non Tesla EVs out there but Ford just announced that it is losing money on it, Ford got caught flat footed by the supply chain disruption.
The main difficulty of successful incumbents will be to ramp up production to meet demand. I don’t drive trucks but the F150 EV specs are awesome! it can keep your house lit for several days in case of blackouts. The Rivian pick-up is said to be very good but they are having problems with production and cost overruns. Will Jeff Bezos/Amazon bail them out? Ford had an initial interest in Rivian but later dumped them.
It’s the Wild West in the EV world! (WWEVW) LOL

This is a full-sized pickup truck, with the same dimensions as the traditional Ford F-150, the best-selling vehicle in America for the past 40-plus years. If a pickup is your regular drive, you will feel right at home in this vehicle.
This is why the F150EV will be a big seller, it looks and acts like a truck. Tesla’s truck looks more like a lunar vehicle. Honda had a similar issue when they first introduced their small truck. Looked different enough that it didn’t look like a “real” truck. With the redesign, they went more traditional.
While I’m not hauling stuff every day, I haul enough frequently enough that I would worry about a 230 mile range while towing a load. My Navigator has a range of about 230 while towing a fully loaded 6x10 cargo trailer (like dragging a large parachute). Or about 1/2 my normal range. So, you maybe talking about 115 or so. Don’t think I’d feel too comfortable.

All of a sudden I am seeing less pickup trucks on the road and more with For Sale signs in their windows. They must be having gasoline prices angst. In California premium $6.70, regular $6.40 and diesel $7.00. Lots of pickup trucks are diesel.
