New Boards HELP Guide

Hey Fools -

There’s been quite a bit of complaining about the new boards. I’m pretty confused by them as well! I just found a HELP Guide to the new boards. Looks like the new platform is based on Discourse. I’m not familiar with that platform, but I guess I’ll have to learn it now!!

I TRULY HOPE that many here will continue to post at the new site. Please allow yourself the time to read and bookmark the HELP GUIDE linked below so that we can all learn the new site and re-group!!!

It would be a sad thing if we all lost this wonderful community!! Let’s learn together!

Hi Folks -

I’m doing more research on the Discourse platform that TMF will be migrating to. Maybe this Wikipedia overview of the platform, and its features would also be helpful? Lots of new stuff to learn, but it looks like once you get used to it, it’ll be a piece of cake.

Someone mentioned being concerned about sharing email and real names. I don’t think that is accurate. The platform allows you to message other users within the platform, and it will also notify you through the platform that someone has responded to your post. These features do not reveal your real name or real email address!!

Keep Fooling!!

Wendy. I asked her for a link to the offending page but didn’t get a reply.

I didn’t reply because I realized that I am so confused that I don’t know the answer.

Hi Wendy,

Your email is NOT exposed to everyone in the new system…you’ll see it on your profile, just like you do in this one, but others can’t see it.

And we are not filling in the Full Name field for users, only CMFs and TMFs. A person can certainly add their name if they wish, and some have, but it’s not necessary.

You’re not the only one confused by the new, improved TMF site. :frowning:

Was on the road yesterday (9/18) and NPR (National Public Radio) had a very interesting segment on the ability to adjust to changes of convictions.
Really good segment including results from a Harvard experiment and an interview with a Civil Rights activist on “calling in”

I think I am ready to take on this change
