OT: Chinese “weather” balloon

So I was really curious about how we knew the “weather” balloon meandering across the lower 48 was Chinese. Why not India or Viet Nam or Thailand or even nefarious Russia?

So, as it floated over my house, I broke out the old Bushnell telescope and managed to take a picture of it.

I saw a small white spec and kept enlarging the picture more and more.

To discover how our crack intelligence agencies broke the code, see below:

Rice? Fortune cookies? Assorted little packets of sauces? Napkins? Plastic silverware?

Well, it seems many, many were fooled by our own weather research tool… Ooops…

When the jet flew by were you able to track it? Or did it just disappear?
Are you near an Air Force Base?
Have you called the local TV news OR any nearby Air Base?

And now, apparently, it’s been deflated and is falling back to the sea…

Went over Charlotte this morning just before my grandson’s b-ball game… I saw it… and waved.

Hobby group of 11 year olds report one of their balloons is missing.

How could our experts miss their radio transmissions? Was the code too difficult for our analysts?

Could anything be more embarrassing to the defense agencies involved?
