Quicken Download Names Don't Match

Since there no longer seems to be a Quicken Support board (category) I decided to use this board (category). Please run me off if you don’t like it.

Here’s my Delima. I downloaded my Wells Fargo checking account transactions from Quicken today. There is a transaction for a watch repair shop that is the same amount as we pay to our yard service. I have done business with the watch repair shop years ago but used a CC for payment. The yard service payment was on the same date as the clock repair. I paid the yard guy using Zelle.

I called Wells Fargo and everything looks good on their end. They referred me to a super secret support number for Quicken which actually turned out to be another department in Wells Fargo (not Quicken). They gave me the actual support number for Quicken who is naturally closed on Saturdays.

I am tempted to just match the clock shop and yard guy (same date, same amount) and go watch the Masters but NOOOOOOO my wife wants me to do all this research and calling and listening to parlor music while on hold, etc.

Don’t get me started on the Elan Financial Services issue I’ve had for two years now that Quicken still hasn’t resolved.

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Regards,

First - I had a silly issue getting Elan set up initially. My error was trying to use Fidelity instead of Elan when setting up Quicken. If you are still having issues there, get back and I will try and help.

For most stuff I find the Quicken Support group to be the best approach for technical support. I open Quicken, Click on Help and then “Quicken Community”. I am a Mac person, so I have to be careful to get into the Mac/Apple areas. Quicken’s tech people do monitor the at least the Mac side. They will occasionally enter into discussions.

Quicken does indeed sometimes cross charges up that are the same amount. I think this is because Quicken is trying to match a Register Entry to the information it obtained from an Institution. One place you can look is by highlighting a downloaded transactions and choosing “Show Inspector” from the drop down. Since Zelle is something the bank does, I don’t know if the word Zelle will appear.

I couldn’t find “Show Inspector” but when I high light the transaction it says: “Renamed from: Zelle to Lawn Mower Guy on 4/7”. I guess I can put this to rest but you still have to ask the question “WHY?”.

I guess I’ll just match the two and be done with it. Have to make sure the register says Lawn Mower Guy and not Clock Repair Shop. Wierd.

Thanks for your help Mr. Potter.

Are you Mac or Windows?
Do you have the subscription version of Quicken?
I said click, maybe it is Right Click.

Hey GW. I’m on Win 11. If I right click on the transaction it says: “Revert to Zelle to Lawn Mower Guy”. I haven’t chosen that option yet. Again though I have to ask why the heck does Quicken start WWIII in my home by pulling some BS like that?
